Victoria Falls stadium nears completion for 2027 Cricket World Cup
Construction of the Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls is nearing completion in preparation for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027. Major building works, including the media centre, broadcast centre, changing rooms, medical facilities, grandstands, and grass banks, are substantially finished.
Remaining tasks involve roofing, installing bucket seats, and setting up corporate gazebos. Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni stated that the focus has shifted to finishing touches, noting that all outstanding materials have been delivered. The stadium is targeted for full completion by mid-2027.
The venue is scheduled to host Zimbabwe’s final group-stage match against India on 24 October 2027, as well as three Super 7 games in late October and early November. An international series and an initial trial match will be organized to test the facilities and match-day operations prior to the tournament. Zimbabwe will co-host the event alongside South Africa and Namibia.
