Victoria Furtună alleges academic intimidation in Moldova
Victoria Furtună, president of the Moldova Mare political party, has accused authorities and the public of undermining freedom of expression in Moldova. She claims the vice-dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences at the State University of Moldova was subjected to online attacks, insults, and threats.
The controversy arose after the vice-dean reshared a post by Furtună regarding education reform, specifically concerning the potential abolition of the baccalaureate and alternative educational paths for youth. Furtună stated that the resulting online harassment forced the academic official to delete the post.
Furtună criticized male politicians for their silence on the matter, arguing that their lack of response contradicts their public stances on democracy and women's rights. She characterized the incident as an attempt to instill fear and silence academic voices.
