Victoria Garza Wins First Diving Silver for Dominican Republic at CAC Games

Victoria Garza made history for the Dominican Republic by earning a silver medal in the women's 10‑metre platform at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo. Her five dives scored a total of 332.60 points, placing her behind Mexico's Alejandra Astudillo (gold, 359.40) and ahead of fellow Mexican Adriana Torres (bronze, 313.70). Garza, 23, said she was "very grateful to God" and thanked her coaches and federation president Radhamés Tavárez for their support.

The medal marks the first ever diving podium finish for the Dominican Republic at these Games. Garza, a former gymnast who switched to diving as a teenager, overcame four ankle sprains and challenging wind conditions on the platform. She will return to compete in the 1‑metre springboard later this week, aiming to add more medals for her country.
