Victoria Grizzlies name Owen Warnick as new captain

The Victoria Grizzlies have appointed Owen Warnick as team captain for the upcoming season. Warnick, a forward who recorded 45 points last season and has committed to Northern Michigan University, will lead a four-player leadership group.

Joining Warnick as alternate captains are Jackson Gillespie, Michael Dowdall, and Levi Eiter. Head coach and general manager Geoff Grimwood noted that Warnick earned the role through his competitive approach and respect from teammates. Grizzlies president David Michaud added that the leadership group brings diverse qualities to the organization.

The Grizzlies are scheduled to begin their regular season on September 18 with road games against the Cowichan Valley Capitals and the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Their first home game at the Q Centre will take place on September 25 against the Surrey Eagles.
