Victoria hosts annual zombie walk in Centennial Square
A few dozen participants dressed as zombies and macabre creatures gathered at Centennial Square in downtown Victoria on October 25 for the city’s annual zombie walk. The event, which has been running for 23 years, involves costumed participants parading through the streets of the capital.
Organizer Cristopher Faith, who established the local event shortly after the first zombie walk occurred in Milwaukee in 2000, noted that the tradition predates major pop-culture phenomena like ‘The Walking Dead’. While the event previously attracted over 3,000 participants during the height of the zombie craze, Faith is currently working to expand the tradition into a daylong celebration similar to a fair to increase community involvement.
