Victoria man builds Queen Mary-style little free library

Jeff Apolinario, a resident of Victoria, has created a unique community resource in the form of an eight-foot-long model of the Queen Mary ship that serves as a ‘little free library’. Located at Ogden Point, the detailed model can hold up to 50 books and has become a popular attraction for tourists and local visitors.

Apolinario designed the library with intricate details, including windows, docks, lifeboats, and railings, inspired by historical photos and models. He chose the classic Queen Mary design over modern cruise ship aesthetics to avoid a ‘floating hotel’ look. The project holds personal significance for Apolinario, as he worked on it alongside his late wife, Marge, who assisted with tasks like sanding and varnishing.
