Tamaulipas launches 2026-2027 electoral process for 471 positions
The state of Tamaulipas has officially launched the 2026-2027 electoral process, with the Instituto Electoral de Tamaulipas (IETAM) overseeing the contest for 471 positions, including 43 municipal governments and 36 state deputies. IETAM President Juan José Ramos Charre emphasized the institution's commitment to impartiality and legal compliance, stating the body will not favor specific political projects.
Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya has been active across the state, attending municipal government reports and highlighting significant investments. In Ciudad Victoria, state and federal investments exceed 13.4 billion pesos for infrastructure and social programs. In Palmillas, 173 million pesos have been allocated to support the agricultural sector through road improvements and farming supplies.
In the health sector, Secretary Ricardo Gerardo Guerrero Morales is coordinating the twelve health districts to unify sanitary protection strategies and set 2027 goals. Additionally, the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) has entered a collaboration with the Auditoría Superior de la Federación (ASF), allowing students to participate in public spending oversight as part of their social service to promote transparency.
