Victoria Mboko's Knee Injury Ends Wimbledon Campaign

Canada's 19‑year‑old Victoria Mboko, ranked No. 9 in the world, suffered a left knee injury at the Queen’s Club championships in London. The injury, diagnosed as a medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear, forced her to retire from her singles match against Karolína Plíšková and withdraw from the doubles quarter‑final with Serena Williams.

The injury also rules Mboko out of the remainder of the grass‑court season, including Wimbledon, which she had been hoping to compete in after a breakout year that saw her win the Canadian Open and reach the fourth round of the Australian Open. Williams will continue her doubles schedule with a different partner at the Berlin Open ahead of a possible Wimbledon return.
