Victoria Classic Boat Festival returns for Labour Day weekend
The 47th annual Victoria Classic Boat Festival is scheduled to take place in the Inner Harbour over the Labour Day weekend. The event will feature up to 100 heritage vessels from across the West Coast.
A major highlight of this year's festival is the public debut of a 19th-century, 16-foot Royal Navy skiff-gig. The vessel, which is believed to have served alongside the Royal Canadian Navy’s first Pacific command warship, HMCS Rainbow, was preserved through decades of community stewardship and extensive upkeep by historian Robert Lawson.
Festival activities include the “Rainbow Row” launch on Friday, Sept. 4, the return of the 1897 sailboat Dorothy, live music, and a sailing race on Sunday, Sept. 6. Entry to the festival is by donation.
