Victoria pastry chef Jose Castillo joins Holiday Bakeshop

Jose Castillo, a pastry chef at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, has secured a spot on the second season of the reality competition show Holiday Bakeshop. The Flavour Network program, hosted by Lauren Ash, features eight expert bakers competing in a holiday-themed contest for a championship title and cash prize.

Castillo, who moved to Canada from Mexico City approximately six years ago, noted that participating in the show fulfills a childhood dream. He mentioned that while he is typically quiet at work, the television format requires a more open personality. The judging panel for the competition includes chef Jordan Andino.
