Victoria Radio Control Modelers Society celebrates 60 years of aviation hobby
The Victoria Radio Control Modelers Society (VRCMS) has been operating in the Victoria area since 1966. The club currently maintains an airfield off Lochside Drive, with a runway located on land rented from Michell’s Farm.
The society consists of 48 members, including associate and junior members, who engage in various aviation-related activities. Interests within the group range from constructing detailed scale replicas from scratch to the technical challenge of piloting model aircraft in three dimensions.
Club treasurer Duncan Ferguson describes the organization as “a social club that masquerades as a flying club,” noting that the community aspect is as significant to many members as the hobby of flying itself.
