Victoria political shifts: Candidate disendorsements and resignations
Several political developments are unfolding in Victoria ahead of the upcoming state election. The Victorian Liberal Party has disendorsed Grant Hutchinson as its candidate for the marginal seat of Croydon. The decision, made by the state executive, follows concerns that an ongoing legal dispute involving Hutchinson could force the disclosure of sensitive party correspondence during court proceedings. Toby Wooldridge has been selected to replace him.
In a separate development, Labor MP Sonja Terpstra has announced she will not seek re-election for the North Eastern Metropolitan Region. Terpstra, who previously drew attention for comments regarding the maintenance of local roads, confirmed her decision to step down from her political career less than 50 days before the election.
Additionally, Mornington MP Chris Crewther has announced a $1.5 million commitment from an elected Liberal/Nationals government to upgrade outdoor facilities at Mount Martha Primary School. The project includes a new all-weather shelter, upgraded courts, and a refurbished synthetic oval to serve both students and local sporting clubs.
