Victorian Opera performs The Turn of the Screw at Palais Theatre

Victorian Opera’s production of Benjamin Britten’s ‘The Turn of the Screw’ is currently playing at the Palais Theatre. The chamber opera, featuring a reduced Orchestra Victoria conducted by Paul Kildea, follows a governess in an English country house haunted by the spirits of two servants.

Performances include Rachelle Durkin as the Governess, Kanen Breen as Peter Quint, and soprano Genevieve Gray as Flora. While the production received praise for its vocal performances and conducting, critics noted that the large stage and set occasionally created a sense of detachment from the intimate drama.
