Victorino García Calderón presents mannequin photography exhibition in Spain

The Sala Tragaluz in Santa Marta de Tormes has launched the exhibition ‘NOS-OTROS’, a photographic project by Victorino García Calderón. The collection features 360 portraits of mannequins captured over the last thirty years across Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Curated by José Fuentes, the exhibition explores the concept of consumer society through the gaze of these inanimate objects. García Calderón’s research highlights a globalized aesthetic, noting that the style and features of mannequins remain remarkably consistent across different countries, suggesting a lack of cultural adaptation in manufacturing. However, the artist observed that mannequins in African markets often show more physical wear and deterioration due to constant movement compared to those in Europe.

The exhibition is open to the public at the local Sociocultural Building until November 30.
