Victòria Alsina launches Paral·lel 41 Foundation to revitalize Catalanism

Victòria Alsina, a Barcelona city councillor and former minister, has launched the Paral·lel 41 Foundation to revitalize Catalanism. The foundation aims to create a transversal political space that moves beyond nostalgia and resignation to address contemporary and future challenges.

Presented at La Pedrera with the presence of former president Jordi Pujol, the foundation seeks to reconnect diverse sensitivities and provide a unified vision for Catalonia. The project intends to incorporate perspectives from various regions, including the 'vegueries', to ensure views outside of Barcelona are represented.

One of the foundation's immediate priorities is immigration. Alsina announced that the organization will work with experts and academics to develop a 'Catalan response' to this issue, with a formal proposal expected in the first quarter of 2027. The foundation's vice president is Sergi Pardos-Prado, an advisor on UK migration policies.
