Videira proposes Education Card for school supplies

The City Hall of Videira has submitted a bill to the City Council to create the 'Cartão Educação' (Education Card). This initiative aims to provide families with resources to purchase school materials and uniforms directly, rather than receiving pre-assembled kits.

If approved, the program would benefit approximately 7,400 students across 29 municipal schools. Municipal teachers would also be eligible to use the card for pedagogical materials. The administration intends for the model to increase transparency, grant families more autonomy, and reduce logistical costs related to bidding, storage, and distribution. Additionally, the project is expected to support local commerce by allowing funds to be spent at accredited local establishments.
