Video game modding community introduces AI and raytracing updates

New modifications are enhancing the gameplay and visual fidelity of classic video games.

A new mod for Project Zomboid, titled ‘Project A-Life’, introduces a persistent and living world inspired by the A-Life system from the Stalker series. Developed for version 42 of the game, the mod uses artificial intelligence to simulate autonomous NPCs and factions that explore, loot, patrol, and raid bases independently of the player's actions. It includes 105 sandbox options for customization and is available via the Steam Workshop.

Separately, the 2003 park management simulator Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis has received a significant graphical overhaul through an RTX-Remix mod. Created by modder budgiegamesindie using Nvidia’s platform, the mod implements raytracing and quality-of-life improvements such as a day-night cycle. Recent updates to the project have focused on replacing assets for RTX compatibility and optimizing performance.
