Video game release schedules shift ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6

Major video game releases are adjusting their launch schedules to avoid direct competition with the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6. Playground Games has reportedly rescheduled Fable to February 23, 2027, moving it from its initial autumn 2026 window.

Official PC system requirements for Fable have been detailed. For 1080p at 30fps, players will need at least a Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i7-6850K, 12 GB of RAM, and an RTX 2060 or equivalent. Higher performance targets, such as 1440p or 4K at 60fps, will require significantly more powerful hardware, including RTX 3080 Ti, RTX 4080, or RTX 5080 series GPUs and high-end Ryzen 7 or Core i9 processors. The game requires 135 GB of SSD storage and supports NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR.

In contrast to studios delaying their titles, Nintendo may proceed with its planned release schedule. Reports suggest a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time could launch in November, potentially during the same week as Grand Theft Auto 6. This strategy is supported by the fact that Rockstar's title is not expected to be available on Nintendo's next console at launch.
