Video game updates: Game Center CX retro status and new Switch 2 title

The Japanese video game program Game Center CX held an emergency live-streamed meeting to determine if the Wii and PlayStation 3 qualify as retro consoles. The production team decided that these systems are now permitted for episodes, as they will meet the program’s twenty-year age requirement by November.

In a separate industry update, the new IP ‘1001 Threads of Mizan’ has been announced for the Nintendo Switch 2. The title is a cooperative action-adventure game for one to three players, inspired by Arabian mythology and ‘One Thousand and One Nights’. The game is expected to arrive on the platform sometime in 2027.
