Vidyut Jammwal discusses Hollywood debut in Street Fighter
Indian actor Vidyut Jammwal has discussed his Hollywood debut in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the video game ‘Street Fighter’. Jammwal, who portrays the Indian yogi and martial artist Dhalsim, noted that the primary difference between Indian and Hollywood action cinema is the availability of time and resources rather than technical talent.
Reflecting on cultural representation, Jammwal argued that Indian communities often reinforce their own stereotypes within domestic films. He expressed satisfaction with his international collaborators, stating they portray Indian characters accurately. He also highlighted the interest shown by his co-stars, including Jason Momoa and 50 Cent, in Indian culture and audiences.
The ‘Street Fighter’ film is directed by Kitao Sakurai and features a cast including Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, and Cody Rhodes. The story follows fighters Ryu and Ken as they navigate a deadly conspiracy during a global tournament.
