Viedma Councilwoman rejects Ombudsman term extension

Councilwoman Vanessa Cacho Devincenzi of the Patria y Futuro party has rejected a municipal ordinance proposal to extend the term of the current Ombudsman of Viedma until November 30, 2027.

Cacho Devincenzi argued that a thirteen-month extension is unjustified, noting that a selection process for a successor is already underway. She emphasized the need for transparency and predictability in the selection procedure, stating that rules should not be changed mid-process. While acknowledging the current Ombudsman's health issues, she maintained that such circumstances do not warrant a term extension of more than a year.
