Vienna and Lower Austria announce public transport changes
Public transportation services in the Vienna and Lower Austria regions will undergo significant adjustments due to construction and regional restructuring.
In Vienna, the 80A bus line will face restrictions starting October 24, 2026, due to ÖBB construction work on the S-Bahn main line. On weekends and public holidays, the service will be shortened, running only between Schlachthausgasse and Franzensbrücke, omitting the connection to Praterstern. During weekdays, the connection to Praterstern will remain but will follow a modified route via Hauptallee. Additionally, the Vivariumstraße stop is scheduled for relocation starting October 20.
In Lower Austria, NÖVOG is implementing improvements as part of the Römerland Carnuntum project. Starting July 2027, the regional bus line 200 (Eisenstadt – Wien Hauptbahnhof) will be rerouted through Laxenburg Süd. This change will increase service frequency at the Laxenburg Guntramsdorfer Straße stop to a 15-minute interval, up from the current hourly schedule. The expansion aims to support growing residential areas in the region.
