Vienna ATX index climbs above 6,400 points

The Austrian ATX index closed higher on Thursday, gaining 1.26% to 6,456.83 points, reaffirming its recent break above the historic 5,000‑point threshold that was first surpassed 19 years ago. The rally was led by semiconductor board maker AT&S, which rose 6.1%, and Erste Group, up 3.6%, while oil‑related stocks showed mixed performance. The broader European markets also recovered after previous losses tied to heightened tensions in the Iran conflict and rising oil prices.

Analysts noted the surge reflects renewed investor confidence in sectors linked to the global AI boom and improving commodity prices, with larger German indices such as the DAX remaining modestly firm. The gains illustrate the importance of real‑time data feeds, risk models and compliance systems in handling rapid market moves.
