Vienna authorities uncover dozens of violations during taxi inspections

Authorities in Vienna conducted a large-scale inspection targeting taxis, small vans, and food delivery services in the Neubau and Alsergrund districts. The operation, carried out by the Group Immediate Measures in collaboration with the Vienna Police, the Public Employment Service (AMS), the Vienna Chamber of Commerce Taxi Guild, and the Market Office (MA 59), resulted in numerous violations.

Police identified several criminal offenses, including one arrest under the Aliens Police Act and a case of document forgery involving a taxi license. Additionally, 76 citations were issued for various infractions, such as invalid driver licenses, improper vehicle conditions, uncalibrated taximeters, and lack of local knowledge of Vienna.

The Market Office reported unauthorized business practices, while the AMS filed multiple charges related to unemployment insurance, social security, and the Foreign Employment Act. One notable case involved an individual working while on sick leave, who will be required to repay thousands of euros in sick pay.
