Vienna bar fight leaves Syrian teen seriously injured
A violent altercation broke out on Tuesday night around 22:20 at Kaisermühlendamm in Vienna's Donaustadt district. Three intoxicated men, aged 25, 26 and 28, verbally insulted a group of friends before physically attacking them. The 25‑year‑old assailant, whose blood‑alcohol level was measured at 1.52 ‰, struck a 19‑year‑old Syrian with a glass bottle, causing severe injuries. Emergency services provided on‑site medical care and the victim was later taken to hospital.
The three attackers also sustained minor injuries but refused treatment. Police detained the 25‑year‑old suspect and filed a criminal complaint for intentional serious bodily injury. An investigation continues into the circumstances of the assault and the other participants are also being charged for involvement in the brawl.
