Vienna bus driver fined 150 Euros for driving too slowly

A bus driver in Vienna, Austria, has been issued a 150 Euro fine for driving too slowly. The driver, a veteran with 43 years of experience, claims he was approaching an intersection as a traffic light turned red.

The citation states that the driver operated the vehicle so slowly without a compelling reason that it obstructed other traffic. The driver intends to appeal the fine, arguing that he must maintain a pace that allows tourists on his tour to view the city, rather than driving at maximum speed.

The Austrian Automobile Club (ÖAMTC) noted that driving speeds must always be adapted to current traffic conditions. While the Vienna Police did not comment on the specific case, they emphasized that driving significantly slower than necessary without cause can impede traffic flow and increase the risk of accidents.
