Vienna City Hall to host Wienopolis children's city event
The Vienna City Hall will host ‘Wienopolis’, a dedicated children's city event, from August 24 to August 28, 2026. Organized as part of the WIENXTRA holiday program, the event is designed for children aged 8 to 13 to experience urban life and civic engagement.
Participants can explore various roles, including working in an employment office, a training center, or in media roles such as journalism and television. The event features its own currency, the ‘Holli Cent’, which children can earn and use to purchase snacks and drinks at local shops.
Political engagement is a central theme, as children can run for office or vote for a city government to establish rules for Wienopolis. Local politicians are also scheduled to visit to answer questions from the youth. While entry is free and no registration is required, adults and children outside the target age group are restricted to 30-minute ‘visitor visas’. Younger children can enjoy puppet shows in the Wappensaal.
