Vienna court rejects Disney lawsuit from Taylor Swift attack suspect

A Vienna court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Beran A., a man convicted of planning an attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna in summer 2024. The plaintiff sought compensation from Walt Disney, alleging that a documentary released on Disney+ violated his personality rights by briefly showing his former residential address.

Defense counsel for Disney argued that the brief footage did not allow for identification and noted that the defendant has not resided at that address for two years and will not be living there for the duration of his 15-year prison sentence. The judge concurred, stating that a residence does not constitute a highly personal sphere of life and that the individual had already been in custody at the time of the documentary's release.

While the sequence has since been removed from the documentary, and the defendant's parents previously received 3,000 euros each in compensation, the court ruled against the plaintiff's claims.
