Vienna celebrates design heritage with upcoming festivals and projects
Vienna is highlighting its rich creative heritage through upcoming design events and interior projects. The 20th edition of Vienna Design Week is scheduled to take place from September 25 to October 4, 2026, featuring site-specific installations and new manufacturing languages across urban spaces.
In addition to the design festival, the Wien Museum at Karlsplatz is set to launch a fashion history retrospective in autumn 2026. The city's aesthetic influence is also reflected in local hospitality, such as the Hotel Beethoven Wien, a neo-Renaissance building from 1902 that utilizes Biedermeier furniture and Secessionist elements to narrate Viennese culture.
On a residential scale, designer Yana Molodykh has completed a project in the Ambassy-Parkside Living area that evokes the golden age of Viennese Jugendstil (Art Nouveau). The design draws inspiration from the historical synergy between the Lobmeyr workshop and the Wiener Werkstätte, utilizing curved forms and brass structures to reflect the city's authentic character.
