Vienna district faces allegations of vigilante activity

Reports have emerged regarding the potential formation of a vigilante group in Vienna’s 22nd district, Donaustadt. An anonymous letter claimed that bikers have begun patrolling Cizekplatz to monitor youth groups allegedly involved in serious physical assaults and other crimes.

The letter suggests that local authorities and politicians have failed to intervene, citing rising crime rates near a local housing estate, including vehicle break-ins and reckless behavior by youths on scooters. The claims also targeted local businesses, including Turkish supermarkets and barbershops, as part of a perceived problematic subculture in the area.
