Vienna emergency services respond to subway and high-rise incidents

Two separate emergency incidents occurred in Vienna involving smoke and fire.

In the first incident, a defective pantograph on a U2 subway train caused light smoke development at the Schottentor station. This led to a suspension of U2 service between Karlsplatz and Schottenring for approximately one hour on Monday evening. Operations resumed after the fire department completed its inspection and the technical issue was addressed.

In a separate event, the Vienna Fire Department responded to a fire on a 26th-floor balcony of the Triiiple-Tower complex. The fire, which began around 6:45 AM, caused visible smoke that concerned local residents and drivers. Firefighters managed to control the blaze using a extinguishing line, and no injuries were reported. The operation concluded after approximately one hour.
