Vienna hosts literary festival and new bookstore opening

Vienna is hosting two distinct literary events in September 2026. On September 12, the Zieglergasse in the Neubau district will host the seventh edition of the Literaturmeile Zieglergasse. This free festival features over 50 authors, musicians, and artists across more than ten locations, including the Literaturhaus Wien and various local cafes. The program includes readings, workshops, and performances, concluding with a concert by Fuzzman.

Additionally, the new bookstore SVEVO is scheduled to open on September 18 in Vienna's Wollzeile. Managed by Kilian Feurstein and founded by Sibylle and Kurt Hamtil, the shop aims to function as a “delicatessen for literature.” Rather than focusing on bestsellers or trends, SVEVO will offer a curated selection of new releases and classics in a uniquely designed space.
