Vienna Insurance Group acquires stake in Dolphin Technologies

Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) has acquired a 25% stake in Dolphin Technologies, a Vienna-based provider of AI-powered telematics and digital mobility services. The transaction is currently awaiting regulatory approval from the Federal Competition Authority.

The investment aims to strengthen a partnership established in 2022 and expand VIG’s use of telematics across its Central and Eastern European operations. Dolphin Technologies' solutions are already utilized by seven VIG companies, including Compensa in Poland and Lithuania, Kooperativa in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Union in Hungary, Omniasig in Romania, and Ray Sigorta in Türkiye.

The telematics platform integrates with existing customer applications to provide driving behavior insights, safety and eco-friendly tips, emergency assistance, and potential rewards or premium discounts for responsible driving. VIG noted that the decision to acquire a stake was driven by the technology's maturity and the provider's ability to adapt to the specific regulatory and market requirements of different countries.
