Vienna Insurance Group reports 20.7% profit increase in H1 2026
Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) reported a 20.7% increase in pre-tax profit for the first half of 2026, reaching €641.5 million. The growth was attributed to positive capital investment results and an improved net combined ratio, which fell to 91.4% due to lower claims.
Gross written premiums rose by 5.4% to €9.03 billion. Growth was particularly strong in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) core markets, with Poland seeing an 8.3% increase and Czechia an 8.1% increase. The Extended CEE segment recorded a 98% rise in pre-tax profit, while Special Markets grew by 35.4% and Austria by 11.2%.
Insurance service revenue increased by 7.1% to €6.85 billion. The company's total investment portfolio grew to €49.1 billion as of June 30, 2026. CEO Hartwig Löger confirmed the company's full-year outlook.
