Vienna launches 24th Children’s University week for 4,000 kids

The University of Vienna and six other local institutions are hosting the 24th edition of the Children’s University (Kinderuni) from 13 July to 25 July. The free program invites around 4,000 children aged seven to twelve to attend lectures, workshops and hands‑on activities across seven universities and research centres, including TU Wien, BOKU, MedUni, WU and Vetmeduni. More than 600 researchers deliver about 370 sessions covering topics such as microbiomes, robotics, artificial intelligence, black holes, medicine, climate science and democracy.

The event coincides with the 20‑year anniversary of the University of Vienna’s Children and Youth Office, which has reached over 200,000 young people since its inception. In addition to the student‑focused courses, parents and older siblings can join free “pause‑program” activities like campus tours, fire‑brigade visits and game days. Registration remains open for any remaining spots via an online platform.
