Vienna Market Office seeks new leadership amid misconduct allegations

The City of Vienna has opened applications for a new head of the Vienna Market Office (MA59) following the departure of Andreas Kutheil. The vacancy arose after allegations of sexism, racism, and bullying were leveled against Kutheil by approximately 20 employees.

Despite the search for new leadership, internal tensions remain high within the department. Reports indicate significant friction between staff and administration, including an incident where employees were reportedly asked to surrender their mobile phones during a meeting with Magistrate Director Dietmar Griebler. Additionally, internal communications have warned staff that sharing confidential information or unconfirmed allegations with the media could lead to criminal consequences, a move that has further strained trust within the workforce.
