Vienna police apprehend burglars and shoplifting suspect in separate incidents

Within an hour on a Thursday evening, Vienna police arrested two suspected burglars in the districts of Favoriten and Rudolfsheim‑Fünfhaus. In the first raid, officers responded to a noise report in a basement on Schwendergasse and detained a 32‑year‑old Croatian who had entered after smashing a window; stolen tools, including a drill, were recovered and returned to the owner. About an hour later, police stopped a man fleeing a broken glass door at a CBD shop on Favoritenstraße, detaining a 37‑year‑old Libyan who was found with cash taken from the shop till and a laptop.

The following day, police were called to a supermarket on Landstraße after two women attempted to steal goods worth roughly €150. Store staff confronted them; one woman fled, while the other, a 35‑year‑old Slovak, bit an employee’s arm during the struggle. She was arrested, identified as a repeat offender, and released on bail pending further proceedings.
