Vienna tank station stabbing injures manager

On 22 June 2026 a 22‑year‑old Syrian man attacked the operator of a fuel station in the Simmering district of Vienna with a kitchen knife. The victim suffered four stab wounds to the torso and was taken to a hospital shock room, but his condition was not life‑threatening.

The attacker also lost the tip of a finger during the altercation, fled the scene, and later entered a hospital for his own injury. Police identified him from the missing fingertip, arrested him and charged him with intentional severe bodily injury. The clash arose after the man and other deposit‑bottle collectors, who had previously been banned from the station, got into a dispute with the staff.

The victim remained hospitalized for observation, while the suspect was placed in custody pending further legal proceedings.
