Vienna Police conduct traffic enforcement operation on city beltway

The Vienna Police conducted a targeted traffic enforcement operation along the inner and outer beltway during the night of September 21 to September 22, 2026. The operation focused on speeding, alcohol consumption, and drug impairment.

Officers identified 21 speeding violations and issued numerous other traffic-related reports and fines. During 67 alcohol tests, one driver was prohibited from continuing their journey after testing above 0.8 per mille. Three cases of suspected drug impairment were reported, involving one car driver and two e-scooter riders. In one instance, police used physical force to stop an e-scooter driver, subsequently seizing four bags of crystal meth.

The operation also resulted in two detentions for the execution of unpaid fines, with outstanding amounts totaling 4,488.75 euros and 18,254.18 euros respectively.
