Vienna Brigittenau knife attack between former neighbours injures two men
Two former neighbours clashed in Vienna's Brigittenau district on Friday afternoon, resulting in a knife fight that left both men with stab and slash wounds. The 41‑year‑old Syrian man first struck the 34‑year‑old victim with an object while the latter held his two‑and‑a‑half‑year‑old daughter, who was rescued by a witness and taken to a nearby café.
The confrontation continued on Leithastraße, where knives were used. Both men received emergency medical treatment and were taken to hospital. Police said the older man had previously threatened the younger man's wife with a kitchen knife while she was jogging. Both suspects have been taken into custody and the investigation is being handled by Vienna’s regional criminal office.
