Vienna Stock Exchange posts record profit as ATX remains stable
The Austrian ATX index closed marginally lower on Friday, slipping 0.05% to 6,527.59 points, but maintained a weekly gain of 4.3% amid steady banking sector support from Erste Group, Bawag and RBI. Industrial and construction stocks such as Voestalpine and Strabag posted declines of 2.5% and 3.7% respectively, while AT&S held steady after a strong prior run.
Wiener Börse AG announced a record pre‑tax profit of €53.4 million for 2025, up from €50.1 million in 2024, with revenue reaching €90.1 million. Equity turnover rose to €84 billion, boosted by volatility in international markets, and the exchange’s custody and data‑sale businesses contributed significantly. The group employed an average of 169 full‑time staff. Construction firm Porr improved its EcoVadis rating to 81, achieving Gold status and ranking among the top 5 % of companies worldwide.
Overall, the figures suggest solid performance for Austria’s capital markets despite broader geopolitical uncertainties in the Middle East.
