Vienna's Innovation Push Fuels SME Funding and Legal‑Tech Expansion
The Vienna Economic Promotion Fund (waff) is offering a new "Innovation and Employment" grant that allows small and medium‑sized enterprises to apply for financial support for innovative projects, skilled staff and new jobs until 27 August 2026. Vice‑mayor and City Councilor for Labour and Economy Barbara Novak said, “Innovative Wiener Unternehmen stärken die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit und Zukunftsfähigkeit unseres Wirtschaftsstandorts.” The programme has already backed 192 local firms with about €10.3 million, creating over 140 new jobs and hiring 277 innovation assistants.
At the same time, Vienna‑based legal‑tech startup notarity has doubled its annual revenue and now processes roughly 10 000 digital document authentications each month, largely for large international corporations. CEO Jakobus Schuster noted, “Damit haben wir den Break‑even erreicht und den entscheidenden Schritt vom wachstumsstarken Startup zum profitablen Global Champion gemacht.” The company serves around 2 000 multinational clients, including major law firms and corporations, and is expanding its presence in markets such as the United Kingdom, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Switzerland.
