Vienna's Prater Launches Summer Brass Band Concert Series
The Wiener Wurstelprater in Vienna has started a new concert series featuring brass bands. The free performances run every Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. from now until October, commemorating the park’s 260‑year anniversary that began in 1766 when Emperor Joseph II opened the venue to the public. Each week a different ensemble – such as Don Bosco Neuerdberg, the Eisenbahner‑Musikverein Wien Südost, Musikverein Leopoldau, Original Hoch‑ und Deutschmeister, Trachtenkapelle Alpenklang, Kurorchester Oberlaa and the Wiener Linien orchestra – plays classic marches, waltzes and polkas at the Riesenradplatz. After each concert the musicians walk through the Prater, providing a musical farewell at the surrounding cafés and restaurants.
