Vienna's Pratersauna Reopens as Urban Pool Club

The historic Pratersauna in Vienna's Prater park reopened on 23 July 2026 after a series of insolvencies, court‑ordered closures and extensive vandalism damage. Gastronomer Nikolaus Gutmann, operating under the "edison" brand, relaunched the venue as an "Urban Pool Club" focused on daytime leisure rather than late‑night clubbing.

The renovated outdoor area now features a restored pool, sand, a beach‑volleyball court, garden seating and a capacity for 300‑400 guests. Entry is €7 and the venue serves a street‑food menu including burgers, ćevapčići, loaded fries and specialty fries with truffle mayo. The indoor spaces remain closed, and the club operates Thursday to Sunday until the end of September, with a winter‑season market planned.

The restart follows a failed 2025 revival attempt by Berlin‑based restaurateur Sebastian Müller‑Klasz, which ended in bankruptcy and further vandalism. Gutmann’s concept emphasizes a relaxed, daytime atmosphere with music at moderate volume, aiming to attract a broad summer audience.
