Vienna's Summer City Camps enroll over 11,000 children
The City of Vienna’s Summer City Camps, now in their eighth edition, opened on 6 July 2026 and will run until 4 September 2026. Across 34 school locations the programme offers about 33 000 places for children aged 6‑12, with inclusive options for children up to 14 who need extra support. More than 11 000 children have already registered, marking a new participation record.
The camps are run in partnership with BiM – Bildung im Mittelpunkt, the Hi Jump Wien association and other youth‑education organisations, with funding from the municipal department for Education and Youth. Vice‑mayor and City Councillor for Education Bettina Emmerling visited the Roterdstraße school in the Ottakring district, where the Japanese Hiroshima Junior Marimba Ensemble performed for the annual Japan Day, highlighting the long‑standing cultural link between Ottakring and Japan.
