Vienna's Wienwoche Soundride Calls for Riders' Rights and Climate Justice

The Wienwoche cultural festival opened on 13 September 2024 at Althangrund in Vienna with a Soundride bike demonstration organized in solidarity with the Riders Collective. The program featured a mix by DJ Jukebox Utopia and speeches from the Riders Collective, including a slam by Clara Felis, urging better working contracts for food‑delivery cyclists and a shift toward sustainable, climate‑friendly urban mobility. Participants highlighted the need for longer breaks and safer conditions for riders, and the event announced a follow‑up Critical Mass ride scheduled for 20 September 2024.

The demonstration forms part of a broader climate strike and mobility‑justice campaign during Wienwoche, aiming to raise public awareness of precarious gig‑economy work and to promote a real mobility transition in the city.
