Viernheim citizens propose new fenced dog park

The Bürgernetzwerk has submitted a formal proposal to establish a fenced dog park in Viernheim to promote species-appropriate care for pets. The group argues that such facilities are essential for the well-being of dogs, providing necessary space for exercise, social interaction, and sniffing.

In their application, the Bürgernetzwerk outlines specific criteria for the park, including size, equipment, water stations, and shaded areas. They cited the dog park in Mannheim-Wallstadt as a positive model for such an installation.

The proposal comes amid discussions regarding rising costs for pet owners. According to the group, dog tax revenues in Viernheim are expected to reach approximately 215,000 euros in 2026, following significant increases in the tax rate over the last three years.
