Vietjet flight makes emergency landing in Chennai due to engine fault

A Vietjet Airbus A320 flight traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Colombo, Sri Lanka, performed an emergency landing at Chennai International Airport in India on Tuesday night.

While cruising at approximately 36,000 feet, the flight crew detected a technical fault in one of the aircraft's engines. Following safety protocols, the pilots diverted the flight to Chennai. Upon receiving the emergency request, airport authorities activated safety and response measures.

The aircraft landed safely at approximately 10:40 pm. All 152 people on board, consisting of 143 passengers and nine crew members, were reported safe and were provided with refreshments and rest facilities at the airport. Technical teams have been inspecting the engine to rectify the issue, and the flight is expected to resume its journey to Colombo once repairs are completed.
