Vietjet registers first aircraft in Australia
Vietjet Aviation has taken a significant step to expand its presence in the Australian aviation market. According to registration data from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), a new Boeing 737-8, manufactured in 2026, has been recorded with the Australian registration prefix ‘VH-T8A’.
This marks the first aircraft belonging to Vietjet to be registered in Australia. While Vietjet Aviation maintains ownership, a Melbourne-based entity is listed as the registered operator. A spokesperson for the airline confirmed that an agreement has been reached to lease the aircraft to an Australian legal entity, which is currently undergoing the necessary regulatory procedures to obtain approval for operations within the country.
Vietjet has been steadily growing its footprint in Australia since 2023, when it launched routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City to major hubs including Sydney and Melbourne. The registration of this Australian-based aircraft suggests a deeper integration into the local market.
