Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology faces inspection findings

The Government Inspectorate of Vietnam has issued a conclusion regarding the implementation of autonomy mechanisms at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and its affiliated units for the 2016–2022 period.

The inspection revealed significant irregularities in personnel appointments. Specifically, 24 cases were identified where individuals were appointed to leadership or management positions without being included in the official personnel planning. Among the eight inspected units, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) accounted for 19 of these cases, while the Institute of Chemistry had four and the Institute of Materials Science had one.

Furthermore, dozens of cases were found where personnel did not meet required standards for political theory, state management, expertise, or information technology. At USTH, the lack of specific internal regulations regarding appointments, reappointments, and dismissals for a prolonged period contributed to these administrative shortcomings.
